The EEHA Refresher course is designed for workers who have already completed hazardous area training and are actively working in hazardous environments. Rather than re-teaching the fundamentals, the course focuses on re-assessing existing competence to confirm that participants have maintained the skills and knowledge required under AS/NZS 4761. Alongside the reassessment, the program also provides training updates on changes to standards and emerging industry developments, ensuring participants remain current with best practice and compliance requirements.
Through a combination of targeted theory reviews and practical re-assessments, participants demonstrate their ability to safely inspect, install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical equipment in areas where explosive atmospheres may be present. Using purpose-built training systems and portable onsite training boards, learners are assessed on functional hazardous area equipment, allowing them to prove continued competence while also keeping pace with current industry expectations across underground coal mining (Group I), gas and vapour environments, and combustible dust locations.
Hazardous Areas – Electrical Refresher Training is delivered as a 3-day face-to-face program, incorporating information delivery, practical demonstrations, written assessments, and practical assessments conducted in a simulated hazardous area environment. Students are provided with PDF workbooks for future reference, and the course is suitable for licensed electricians who hold equivalent EEHA units or a Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas completed within the past five years, with evidence of continued work experience in hazardous areas.
